General Motors and OnStar today launched "Stolen Vehicle Slowdown" on model year 2009 GM vehicles in the US and Canada. Stolen Vehicle Slowdown is the latest enhancement to OnStar's Stolen Vehicle Assistance service and enables OnStar to further help law enforcement in the recovery of subscribers' stolen vehicles, while helping to reduce fatalities and injuries resulting from police chases. Working with law enforcement and utilizing its unique built-in technology, OnStar can remotely send a signal that interacts with the vehicle's engine, gradually slowing it down, aiding in a safe recovery.
I was fortunate enough to meet up with Al Clapsaddle earlier this week for breakfast during a brief stop in Columbus, Ohio. We had a good discussion about the new 2009 Saturns and his newly-modified 2008 Aura midsize sedan. Over the years Al has enjoyed personalizing all of his Saturns, and his '08 Aura is no different. Just like his other cars, he did a good job customizing this one too.
Saturn of Columbus modified this 2008 Vue especially for Ohio State University fans. This particular model is on sale and was photographed at Saturn/West in Hilliard, Ohio earlier this week. Columbus-area Saturn retailers create a limited number of these each year for OSU fans.
Michel Deslauriers from Canada's Auto123.com drove the Saturn Astra and walked away impressed. "After almost 20 years, Saturn is now offering a very interesting line of vehicles," he concluded at the end of his review. "Why did it take so long?" He thought that his Astra test car was "blessed with a terrific chassis," and that it's "steering is precise and direct, which makes the Astra fun to drive."
Scouring the web for the latest Saturn news, reviews, and rumors every day in the evening after work - while administering the SaturnFans Forums - usually keeps me pretty busy. So busy, unfortunately, that I don't spend as much time as I'd like posting my own personal Saturn-related stories and experiences.
